Healing of the Body through Christ
Have you ever been sick for a prolonged time?
Below are a few points to remember when you seek healing from God.
1. Ask,
Mathew 7:7-11 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
God knows our needs before we come to him, but he wants to hear them from us. It's a humbling experience when we go to someone for help. God loves when we come to him, especially when we choose to come to Him over someone else. He rejoices when we turn to him. Pray for your SPECIFIC need. I've also found my prayers to be more powerful when I pray them out loud, but God hears all our prayers whether they are out loud or in our heart.
2. Have faith,
The Bible tells and shows us that God has the power to heal but also demonstrates we must have faith. When we ask God to do something we must believe it He can do it. I've found myself getting discouraged when my prayers aren't answered immediately but I fail to see the progress that's been made.
Matthew 17:19-20 demonstrates that without faith, healing cannot take place but with faith "even as small as a mustard seed" God will heal.
Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately, “Why couldn’t we cast out that demon? “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
It's important to understand there are times when healing doesn't take place on earth. While this is hard for humankind to understand, our greatest reward and most beautiful form of ourselves is in Heaven with Christ. In Heaven we will experience a greater peace and healing than we could on earth.
